An Ephimeral Agora

Participative performance. Ongoing.

Who is speaking?

Who is listening?

Which bodies are visible?

What voices remain unheard?

What discourses shape our daily lives?

This game-like performance intends to activate and stage the speech of its participants.

Designed to take place in public places, it opens up a temporary “space of appearance” for those who wish to formulate and address their own discourse.

Seated in a circle on chairs, participants are able to embody roles of speaker, listener, voice-bearer, interpreter and so on. These roles, assigned to each seat, rotate according to a protocol explained on playing cards distributed at the start of the game. The aim is to enable everyone to express themselves orally and in public, adopting a posture that may be confronting and intimidating, but within an egalitarian and benevolent framework.

The idea is, on the one hand, to invite everyone to express some of their thoughts out loud and, on the other, to emphasize active, reflective listening to other participants.

Comment dire... is a project that aims to reinvest, or even reinvent, the political word collectively.

Can it take place, find resonance, outside the places and bodies of power that traditionally carry it?

How can other messages be heard?

How can we make our voices heard?
